Arc Flash Labels

Arc flash incidents happen so infrequently that people can forget about the danger.

Arc flash incidents happen so frequently, and are so severe, that they are a serious hazard and common cause of workplace injuries.

Are these statements contradictory. Not at all. They are both true. Electrical equipment can run for years with nothing apparently wrong. Then seemingly out of nowhere an arc flash happens. That's one reason why arc flash is so dangerous. It is also a major reason why arc flash labels are so important.

Arc flash labels remind anyone who gets close that an arc flash danger exists. If you use DuraLabel SUPER-SIZED arc flash labels, people don't even need to get close to read the label and know the danger is real.

Don't think that equipment must be energized with 480v or more in order to be an arc flash danger. Arc flash labels are required on equipment operating at as low a level as 50 volts, because the potential for an arc flash exists even at that low of a voltage. That means proper procedures must be followed and the proper PPE used... and arc flash labels provide that information.

When you need arc flash labels turn to the experts, DuraLabel. The DuraLabel brand of label printers and supplies provide unsurpassed quuality, ease-of-use, and customer support -- all combined into a value packaged package. That means you also save money with DuraLabel because DuraLabel supplies cost less than supplies from other major brands. But that doesn't mean you'll be scrimping on quality. The extensive testing DuraLabel puts all their supplies through ensure you get only the best quality.

Plus, with DuraLabel you get versatility. No other supplier... I'll repeat that because it's not just marketing talk... no other printer has as many types of supplies available as do DuraLabel PRO printers. With over 41 different types of supplies you get extreme versatility with DuraLabel. You may buy yuor printer to make arc flash lbels, but you can use it for everything from shrink tube wire labels to making reflective traffic control signs.

DuraLabel gets the job done... and it gets the job done right. Call 1-888-326-9244 today.

Reflective Pipe Markers

DuraLabel printers provide a way to improve safety during emergencies. Use DuraLabel PRO reflective supplies for making pipe markers for pipes that need to be shut down during an emergency, and those pipe markers will brightly stand out when illuminated by a flash light. Reflective pipe markers make it easy to identify critical pipes under low light conditions.

Use the same reflective supply to make valve tags for critical valves, and the bright, reflective tags will help you find those valves under low light, emergency conditions.

More information about reflective pipe markers.

Reflective pipe markers are also helpful when pipes must normally be viewed from a distance or under low light conditions. Bright, highly visible DuraLabel PRO reflective pipe markers make labels easier to spot and read from a distance.

Reflective supplies for making pipe markers is available for the DuraLabel PRO and DuraLabel PRO 300 printers, as well as for the wide formaty DuraLabel 7000 and DuraLabel 9000 printers.

With Duralabel printers and supplies you can make standard or customer labels and signs, and have exactly the labels and signs you need.

Oily Surface Labels & Signs - Video

An unusual labeling application would be the need to apply a label on a surface that has a coating of oil or grease. In most cases we clean surfaces before labeling them. But there are instances in which it would be helpful to be able to apply a label directly to an oil coated surface. DuraLabel's innovative labeling products development has come up with a label material that makes permanent adhesive backed labels and signs that will stay stuck on oil contaminated surfaces.

Here is a video that shows this unique oily surface label:

OSHA Safety Labels In Color

When can a monochrome printer print multi-color custom labels?

When you have a DuraLabel printer and are using the DuraLabel multi-color custom label service.

What's that?

The multi-color custom label services provides color templates for your labels, custom made to your specifications. They come on a continuous roll which then runs through your DuraLabel printer where the last color is printed (usually black) to add custom information. The result is a color label, made specifically for your facility and application, with exactly the information you need on the label.

That's how to make OSHA safety labels in color, or any other color label you need.

Color makes labels more effective. They transmit information quicker. The message is more easily understood. They are more easily noticeable. And with the DuraLabel multi-color custom label service full color labels are now practical. Give us a call today at 1-800-788-5572. You'll be glad you did.

OSHA LABELERS - Be Prepared For Safety

When it comes to safety it is best to be prepared. When it comes to making safety labels and signs, the best way to be prepared is by owning a DuraLabel PRO printer.

Why?

Because DuraLabel PRO safety label printers have a wider selection of supplies than any other industrial label printer. A printer is limited by the supplies available for that printer. With the DuraLabel PRO that means very few limitations. It's the printer that gets the job done, and gets it done right.

Do you need to label greasy drums? The DuraLabel can do it. It has supplies that will stick to greasy or oily surfaces... and stay stuck.

Do you need to apply labels at low temperatures? The DuraLabel can do it. The DuraLabel even has low temperature supplies that will survive cryogenic temperatures.

Do you need to make large safety signs? The DuraLabel can do it. For example, making a safety sign that is 48" x 36" is not a problem.

Do you need to print on 1/4" shrink tube? The DuraLabel can do it. Whether you need small wire markers, or labels for large cables, the DuraLabel can make both shrink tube labels and self-laminating cable wraps.

Do you need large numbers of RTK labels? The DuraLabel can do it. Supplies are available for making either NFPA Diamond labels or color bar labels, and they are available from small sizes up to super-jumbo sizes.

That's right the DuraLabel gets the job done. So when it comes to safety, get the label and sign printer that can handle all your labeling and sign making needs, as well as all your safety label and sign requirements. Get a DuraLabel printer... and by the way, you'll cut your supply costs by about 30% vs. comparable label printers.

New Requirements For Phosphorescent Labels and Marking

A new white paper from Graphic Products describes new building codes that went into effect January 1st. Based on the results of studies of the evacuation of the World Center, marking of stairways and exit paths with phosphorescent tape is now required. This includes marking of stair steps, handrails and placing phosphorescent signs within 18 inches of the floor.

The white paper provides an introduction to phosphorescent supplies, and then covers the new NFPA 101 code, as well as discussing municipal codes that are requiring photoluminescent markings.

There are a lot of special supplies available for DuraLabel PRO printers. One type of special supply are two-color lock out / tag out tags that can be custom printed on your DuraLabel PRO printer.

One of the first things you'll notice is that these LOTO tags are so tough that they don't need grommets. Use your DuraLabel PRO to print custom information on the tag, punch a hole and hang the tag. It won't fall off, tear off or get ripped. These tags truly are TUFF.

The standard LOTO tag comes with a DANGER header and a red candy-striped body. Custom tags are also available with a minimum order size. Give us a call for more information at 1-800-788-5572.

Special Labels - Labeling Oily Surfaces

When you are using a DuraLabel PRO printer, you'll be using the printer that gets the job done, no matter how difficult the job.

Here's a tough job. You have surfaces that need safety labels, but they are oily and can not be cleaned. In the past the only option was to go through the expense and time of creating a mechanically applied label. But now you can do better than that.

The new DuraLabel oily surface labeling supply makes labels (and signs) that can be applied directly to oily surfaces... and they will stick and stay stuck. The adhesive backing chemically reacts with oil to create a permanent and durable bond. Other labels slide around and fall off. DuraLabel oily surface labels stay in place.

The DuraLabel PRO is the industrial quality label printer that gets the job done. And even in tough situations it gets the job done right. When you are selecting your next label and sign printer, go with the best... go with a DuraLabel.

Graphic Products has just announced that they have expanded their line of DuraLabel PRO phosphorescent tapes to include more colors. Glow-in-the-dark self-adhesive tapes are now available in green, orange, yellow and blue. DuraLabel PRO phosphorescent supply is non-radioactive, non-toxic, lead free, and self-extinguishing.

The DuraLabel PRO 300 is a top selling, superior quality industrial printer for making labels and signs. It can print on phosphorescent tapes to make clear, easy-to-read, glow-in-the-dark labels and signs. Don't Settle For Second Best (Or Worse)

When it comes to DuraLabel supplies, there is only one supplier to go to when you want the best value, quality, experience, knowledge and service. This has been demonstrated recently concerning the question of labeling tape thickness. Is thicker tape better? What factors are import when it comes to tape durability?

If you know labeling tape, and how vinyl and adhesives work, then you know that thicker is not always better.

Thicker vinyls can take more direct physical abuse. This is known as "body damage." That's why thick tapes are used in applications in which there will be a lot of physical abuse, such as floor marking tapes receive.

However, thicker tapes have many disadvantages. The chief disadvantage is their high edge profile. The thicker edge makes it easier for the edge to be pull up. Even if the edge pulls up by a microscopic amount, this is enough to break the seal and allow air, moisture and chemicals to get at the adhesive. The result is that the adhesive starts breaking down and the label fails.

For a label to have a long life requires the optimum vinyl thickness to be used. That's why DuraLabel uses 3.0 mil vinyl. It provides excellent resistance to the physical abuse (body damage) labels typically receive, while also providing a low profile edge that resists peeling. The result is a long life label.

I used to watch the Tool Time TV show. Tim Taylor always wanted "more power". In his mind bigger was always better. And every week he had to relearn the lesson that bigger is not always better. That's the lesson to be learned with vinyl labeling tapes. Labeling experts, such as the folks at DuraLabel, know that bigger is not always better. They know that the best label material must take into consideration a variety of factors that all contribute to long life. It's not simple. There are many more factors involved than "body damage" and edge thickness. That's why you should be purchasing your supplies from the experts... the experts at DuraLabel.

Custom, Professional, Cost Effective Labeling

With the DuraLabel PRO series of printers you get it all.

You get a label printer that can handle just about any labeling job. But it takes more than just a label printer... it takes supplies. A printer with the right supplies can't get the job done. With a DuraLabvel PRO printer there are more types of supplies available than any comparable printer. No one comes close to the DuraLabel PRO for quality and the number of types of supplies.

What do you need to label?

Pipe markers are easy. What about pipe markers with RTK labels for a variety of pipe sizes? It's becoming common to label pipes containing hazardous materials with the appropriate RTK label. It's the safe thing to do. The DuraLabel PRO can handle it... no problem.

What about safety signs? Sounds like another easy job. But what happens when the power goes off? Do your safety signs still clearly communicate their message. With phosphorescent signs made using the DuraLabel PRO your safety signs will glow in the dark, with no eletrical power required. They continue to deliver needed safety information.

What do you do when you need to label something temporarily? With the DuraLabel PRO you have options... meaning you can use the right material for the job. Use repositionable tapes that allow labels to be applied, removed, and reapplied in a new location. Or use static cling labels. They'll stick to many types of surfaces without leaving a mark or residue.

What do you need to label? The DuraLabel PRO can handle the job. From high grade vinyl to highly specialized supplies such as electrostatic dissipative and low temperature tapes, the DuraLabel gets the job done right.

New DuraLabel PRO Supplies

Custom, professional, cost effective labeling, that's what DuraLabel PRO printers delivery. These are the printers that get the job done, and they do it right.

To get the job done right requires the right supplies. Four new types of DuraLabel supplies means your DuraLabel PRO printer solves even more labeling and sign making problems.

Electrostatic Dissipative tapes eliminate static electricity. Do you sometimes notice static electricity in your facility? If so, it can also cause small dots on your labels. Small static discharges may cause bubbling of the ink during printing resulting in dots on your printed areas. Electrostatic Dissipative tapes eliminate that problem. You should also use electrostatic dissipative tapes when makes labeling for electronic components, A static charge can build up during label printing, when the backing is being removed and when a label is being applied. Although not noticeable this small static discharges can damage electronic equipment. Electrostatic dissipative tape reduces the chances that a static discharge will take place.

Another new DuraLabel PRO supply are HI-tack labels. These are vinyl tapes with a new, super strong extra thick adhesive. HI-tack labels will stay stuck when other labels fall off, such as on rough surfaces.

Other label printers say they have petroleum resistant labels available. DuraLabel has always had petroleum resistant labels, but will those labels stay stuck if they are applied to oily or greasy surfaces? If they are DuraLabel PRO labels they will. The new oily surface tapes use a high tack adhesive that resists oil, gasoline, moisture, sulfuric acid, and salt spray.

When you need high visibility, then fluorescent tapes are the way to go. These provide bright colors that draw attention to your labels and signs.

Learn more about these new DuraLabel supplies, as well as many others. When you are using a DuraLabel PRO printer, you are using the printer that has the supplies to get the job done right.

Where Do You Need Glow-In-The-Dark?

The DuraLabel thermal transfer printer has a wide range of supplies available. Supplies that include phosphorescent glow-in-the-dark tape. Use the DuraLabel to print on this special tape and you'll have black text and graphics on a white background. But, when the lights go off the label will glow, producing an easily readable black text and graphics on a bright green background.

Use the DuraLabel to make both labels and signs that glow in the dark. Phosphorescent tapes are available up to four inches in width. However, the DuraLabel can tile the printing across multiple strips of tape. That means, for example, that six lengths of tape can be combined to create a 2' x 3' glow-in-the-dark sign.

Where do you need glow-in-the dark labels and signs? In any location in which it is important to provide information during a power or lighting failure. Signs marking exit doors and fire extinguishers are excellent applications. You may need to identify emergency equipment, or potential hazards such as stairs, areas of low headroom or locations where hazardous materials are stored. Phosphorescent labels and signs do not need batteries or any source of outside energy. They will glow, illuminating their message, for up to ten hours.

Need To Make Traffic & Parking Signs?

What you need is a printer that can economically make reflective signs. One option is to purchase reflective board and use a vinyl cutter to make the text and graphics for the sign. A machine such as the DuraCut Pro Vinyl Cutter is a good choice for making signs this way.

Another option is to use a printer such as the DuraLabel to print on reflective vinyl tapes. The self-adhesive tapes can be applied to fiberglass, metal or plastic backing material to create medium and small size signs. Making a two foot by three foot parking lot sign is not a problem.

The advantage of using the DuraLabel printer over a vinyl cutter such as the DuraCut Pro (both come from the same supplier) is that the DuraLabel printer gives you the ability to do a lot more. A vinyl cutter makes signs... that's it. The DuraLabel printer makes signs, wire labels, hazardous material labels, general purpose labels, bar code labels and a lot more. With the DuraLabel printer you have a lot more capability... even when compared with other printers.

With the huge variety of DuraLabel supplies, that are available at about half the price you'd pay for supplies for comparable printers (because you'll be buying direct), you'll have a machine that quickly pays for itself.

DuraLabel Supplies - Huge Selection

There is no other 4" industrial thermal transfer printer that has as wide a selection of supplies as the DuraLabel. DuraLabel supplies range from standard industrial grade vinyl tapes, to highly specialized supplies such as low temperature and reflective tapes.

Why is this an advantage? Because no matter how good a label printer is, it will be limited by the available supplies. If the supplies to make a certain type of label are not available, the printer is of no use in that area. The DuraLabel is a VERY good label printer. When it comes to supplies it has few limitations.

Because the DuraLabel has such a wide selection of supplies available, it is a very versatile printer. You may purchase a DuraLabel to handle a very specific labeling need, such as arc flash labels or making pipe markers. But you'll find that the DuraLabel can handle just about any labeling task. Electricians and datacomm installation techs can make the wire, instrument and panel labels they need. The safety manager can make OSHA required safety signs and labels. Security can make reflective traffic control and parking signs. The facilities manager can make directional signs and use clear vinyl tapes to make text and graphics for glass doors and windows. The warehouse can make repositionable labels to temporarily identify shelves and racks as needs change.

When you are evaluating which label and sign printer to purchase, be sure to consider the impact of the availability of supplies, and put the DuraLabel at the top of your short list. Yo'll be glad you did.

Now Save 50% With DuraLabel Supplies

A new year came and it was the time for prices to go up. The price of a pop in our soda machine went from 65 cents to 75 cents, and the cost of industrial labeling supplies went up significantly... except for DuraLabel supplies.

While others were raising prices, DuraLabel supplies did not go up in price. The result is that when you look at comparable thermal transfer printers, DuraLabel supplies now cost half of what supplies for those comparable printers cost. That's right! With DuraLabel supplies you now save 50% on your labeling costs!!

Why the big price difference?

Because with DuraLabel supplies you are buying direct from the manufacturer. There is no middleman and the savings are passed on to you.

Is there any difference in quality?

No. DuraLabel supplies match or exceed the quality of supplies for comparable machines. Plus, with the wide selection of DuraLabel supplies you find you can use the DuraLabel printer for a wider range of labeling applications. That saves you even more money. But wait, there's more (as they say on TV). The DuraLabel prints up to four times faster than comparable machines, saving you time (and money). When it comes to label printers, the DuraLabel 4TTP is a win, win, win choice.

DuraLabel Supplies Cost Comparison

I just ran into a utility I had forgotten about. The Labeling Tape web site includes a utility that allows you to directly compare the cost you are currently paying for supplies for a labeling machine with the supply cost for the DuraLabel thermal transfer printer.

You can select from three label printers: the Brady Labelizer Plus, the GlobalMark and the Varitronics EasyStep 4000. Select the type of tape you are using and enter the amount you are currently paying per roll. The utility will then calculate the cost of using the same (or similar) supplies on the DuraLabel and show you the difference. You may be surprised at how much you can save.

The labeling supply cost comparison utility is located at: http://www.labelingtape.com/savings/index.php

DuraLabel 4 Supplies

What's new at DuraLabel? Why don't you tell them?

A wide variety of DuraLabel 4 supplies are already available. Everything from shrink tubes for labeling wires to a large format NFPA Diamond. There are vinyl tapes in six widths and two thicknesses. Die cut labels and tough-to-tear DuraTags are available. Specialty materials include phosphorescent tapes, reflective tapes, low temperature tapes and more. With all that it offers, there are ways the DuraLabel can become still better.

Use the above link to check out the DuraLabel and DuraLabel 4 supplies. If you have labeling or sign making projects that DuraLabel can't handle, let them know. The product development team at DuraLabel would be happy to hear your suggestions, problems and ideas.

Keep in mind the DuraLabel is an industrial quality 300 dpi thermal transfer printer. If you are looking for a labeler to make file folder labels--yes, the DuraLabel can do that, but if that's all you need to do then you can get by with a much smaller, office type labeler. Instead of trying to pound a screw into the wall with a hammer, it's better to use a screwdriver. In those cases the DuraLabel customer service representative will probably recommend using a different machine (they stock a wide variety of label machines).

More DuraLabel Supplies

The number and types of supplies for the DuraLabel 4TTP label and sign printer has continued to expand.

DuraLabel vinyl tapes are now available in over 100 colors and six widths.

New sizes of die-cut RTK labels for the DuraLabel have come out.

The new, super tough, DuraTag tapes are now available. DurTag tapes are so tough that you can use them to print tags, punch a hole in them, and attach them to a valve or other equipment. There is no need for a grommet because DuraTag material resists tearing.

A label and sign printer is only as useful as the supplies it has available. With the DuraLabel 4TTP label and sign printer, you get such a wide variety of supplies that there are few labeling jobs it can't handle.

The DuraLabel 4TTP is a 300 dpi thermal transfer printer design for making industrial quality labels, signs and tags.
